Jurie Hanekom

Jurie Hanekom has worked in the mining industry for 22 years, starting out in Impala Refineries, Springs, purchasing department.

He steadily worked his way up in the industry and is now shareholder and head of operations.

With 22 years of mining experience Jurie started as a learner official at Anglo Platinum and worked his way up into a management position. Jurie is the operational arm and Dipuo is the inspiration.

Using his many skills he converts the inspiration into profit, much as he has done in other organisations and mining houses.

Jurie is passionate about succeeding and one of the main ways to do that is to build trust among colleagues and for everyone to work toward a common goal.

In addition to his Baccalaureus Technologiae Mining Engineering Degree, obtained in 2004 at Technikon Witwaters Rand, he also has a diploma in marketing and a Mine Managers certificate of competency.

Jurie works closely with communities surrounding the mines he has worked on and is fluent in Fanakalo, the lingua franca of the South African mining industry, spoken on a daily basis in the workplace. It is a mix of Zulu, Afrikaans and English.

He treats everyone as if they are beloved members of his family He will not stop learning, and one of his goals is to visit countries where mining is a strong pillar of the economy so that he can broaden his knowledge in the mining industry, and hopefully be able to bring it home.

When he is not working Jurie enjoys fishing, hunting, mountain biking and golf.
